Hans Smith – Cerebral Palsy – MLB The Show 2010

by admin on Mar.19, 2010, under Dreams Come True, Real People-Real Stories

Hans Smith is a BYU-Idaho student with cerebral palsy and a huge fan of MLB The Show 2010. He recently completed a season in MLB The Show 2009 and sent Sony a thank you letter simply for allowing him the chance to feel like he was actually playing the game. He explained that it felt so real playing and just wanted to tell them that the game was more than just game to him. He never thought he would hear back from them, but they contacted him! Not only were they touched by his story, they wanted him to be a part of MLB the Show 2010! In essence they made playing baseball for him reality with their virtual reality.

This is an incredibly touching video and shows how one persons dreams were brought to pass by some caring businessmen. Although Hans Smith’s cerebral palsy limits him in some things he can do, MLB The Show 2010 has made him feel like he has no disabilities at all.

Enjoy!

Overcoming Failure

by admin on Feb.27, 2010, under Overcoming Failure, Real People-Real Stories

As the Olympics wind down this weekend there are many athletes who will be heading back to their own countries having lost. Some might say they have failed. But what do you think they are going to do? Stop skiing? Stop snowboarding? Stop curling? No. They will keep going and trying. They will do better next time.

Many people have failed in one thing, some things, or many things. But what sets the failures apart from the successes are that they keep going until they succeed! Many people that are renowned have failed. This video shows just a few:

  • Did you know Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team?
  • Did you know Thomas Edison was told by his teacher he was too stupid to learn anything?

Check out this video and see what other successful people were once told they were failures, then decide to succeed!

Butterfly Circus

by admin on Feb.08, 2010, under Accomplishment, Movies, Overcoming, Real People-Real Stories

So it’s the day after the Superbowl and the commercials from yesterday are spreading like a virus(that’s where the term “viral” comes from fyi). I was debating whether or not to show one of my fave commercials however they just aren’t inspiring… So they didn’t make the cut. Only inspirational Youtube on here, right? Right.

One video that truly is inspiring is a short movie on finding your talents, called the Butterfly Circus. It’s the story of a traveling circus that showcases peoples true talents and how a man who has no legs or arms is able to find his talent. The man’s name is Nick Vujicic, and he was born without arms or legs. You should visit his site and watch the short video about him before you watch the short film… It will make the short film better. It is a little longer than most of my videos(20 minutes) but well worth it.

Try to figure out why they are called the Butterfly Circus… I’m sure you can!

Thanks to my good friends the Cooks for sharing this video. If you have a minute you can visit his blog at www.jaredcook.net.

Boy In Love

by admin on Feb.05, 2010, under Love, Real People-Real Stories

I remember the day that my wife, then girlfriend, first told me that she loved me. She was so shy about it that she said it behind a pillow! I remember that I didn’t tell it to her back immediately because I really wanted to mean it when I was ready… I had never said it before to another woman(apart from my fam). When I did tell it to her, about a week later, it felt right. I really do love her and she still gives me butterflies when I see her.

Here is a simple inspirational video of a boy in love…
