The Real Meaning of Easter

by admin on Apr.05, 2010, under Jesus Christ

What is the real meaning of Easter? For some it might be watching the kids get easter eggs, for others it might simply be being with their families, it could even just be a holiday for many. For Christians it is a commemoration of the greatest event ever recorded, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I am posting about this day because it represents all that is important to me. I know that after going through this life and the ups and downs it has brought and will bring, I am going to die. I know that death will be a sort of birth, an awakening even. I will wake up to reality and see things that I could not see with my eyes. Sometime after that death I will even be resurrected and will meet my Maker.

All this because on the first Easter Jesus Christ overcame death through living a perfect life. That is the real meaning of Easter.

Christ called Apostles when he lived and he continues to call Apostles these days. This is what they have to say about the real meaning of Easter:

The Thick of Thin Things

by admin on Mar.14, 2010, under Religious, Service

President Thomas S. Monson says, “We become so caught up in the busyness of our lives, were we to step backward however and take a good look at what we are doing, we may find that we have immersed ourselves in the thick of thin things.”

Latter-Day Saints, or Mormons, sustain Thomas S. Monson as God’s prophet. As in Old Testament times, God continues to call prophets that serve as his messenger. The particular message that God would have his hear is to serve others! Do something small and unexpected. It can be breakfast for a spouse, picking up a piece of trash, helping someone with their groceries, etc. Just don’t get caught up in the “thick of thin things” in life! A popular LDS hymn states:

“Have I done any good in the world today, have I helped anyone in need? Have I cheered up the sad, and made someone feel glad? If not I have failed indeed. Has anyones burden been lighter today, because I was willing to share? Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way? When they needed my help was I there?

As you watch this video think about how you can avoid getting caught up in the “thick of thin things”!

The Most Inspiring Video I’ve Ever Seen.

by admin on Mar.01, 2010, under Giving, Religious

The title of this post, “The Most Inspiring Video I’ve Ever Seen”, is literally the title of this video that I found on Youtube. It hardly does the short clip justice.

The video shows dozens of impoverished people receiving wheel chairs courtesy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, more commonly known as LDS or Mormons. As President Marlin K Jensen explains, the giving of the wheelchairs is made possible through small contributions from many members of the church. Anyone is able to donate to the church, usually in the form of tithing, fast offerings, or to humanitarian aid. The funds for the wheel chairs in this video most likely came from fast offerings or humanitarian aid. These funds have not only been used for wheel chairs, but also with disasters world-wide; such as in Haiti and Chile. Visit LDS.org or LDS Humanitarian Services for more information.

As you watch this video look at the faces of those who are receiving wheel chairs. Think about how much that small gift means to them!

You may not be giving wheel chairs out everyday, but you can lift others up in other ways. Look for them and you will find them!

Create

by admin on Jan.20, 2010, under Create, General, Potential, Religious

“Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence to create something of substance or beauty… Creation is your opportunity in this life and the life to come.”

Think about creating something new in your job, at home, or at school. Come up with a BETTER way of doing your same job. Create a new opportunity to meet someone by saying hello in the store. Create a better atmosphere at home by changing something you do or say to a loved one.

The possibilities to create are endless.
