Jason Ness Wrestling – Don’t Give Up!
by admin on May.05, 2010, under Sports, Wrestling
In The Seven Habit of Highly Effective People, Steven R Covey in talking about working out states that all the growth in muscles is seen in the last few reps. It is when the nerve endings register the pain and send the signal for muscle to regrow, usually within 48 hours.
The same goes for work and enduring. Many times we give up just before we can break through. It may be a difficult homework assignment, or a work assignment, but when we push through the worst times that is when we can come out on top.
This video shows this point in action. It is of the 2010 NCAA 133 pound wrestling championship. Jason Ness trailed Daniel Dennis the entire match. Rather than give up and admit defeat he pushes through the pain and fatigue he is feeling and makes a move at the end of the match.
Watch as Jason Ness doesn’t give up, but pushes through and wins the NCAA wrestling championship. (You can watch from 3:30 on for the best action).

I can’t fish. I once was fishing off a dock and when I reeled the line in there was a crawdad attached to my hook… but then he feel off. I’ve caught nothing since. The art of fishing is hard but imagine trying to do it without arms or legs. That is what Clay Dyer does, and he is good at it!
He was born without arms or legs, and only a small stump on his left arm. Despite these limitations he has not just learned how to fish but how to do it well. So well that he is on the professional tour.
His brother was asked if he could give him one thing what he would want, this was his response:
“The obvious answer would be arms and legs, but he wouldn’t want that… It’s probably the last thing he wants.”
Says his mom:
“He talks about having a heart, soul, and mind… That that’s all you need. He says he has everything he needs.”
This is the story of the most inspirational fisherman!

What is street soccer New York you might ask yourself? It’s a lot more than just guys playing soccer on the street! It’s all about helping homeless people come together and giving them some hope when they don’t have it.
I received this video from my amigo Andrew and it’s inspiring to me because it shows how sports can help some of the most impoverished people get a sense of community and teamwork and fun!
Enjoy.

In the words of Nike:
From Lance Armstrong on his bike, to a six-year-old in China learning martial arts, movement is the universal language that connects us all. It’s a language of beauty, drama, tragedy and triumph. And the road to athletic greatness is not marked by perfection, but the ability to constantly overcome adversity and failure.
“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at. Everybody gets knocked down, how quick are you going to get up?”
Apply this your life. See what happens!
